Secretary Blinken asks Kurti and Vuçiq to reduce tensions in the north

Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, stated that the USA supports EU three-point plan for de-escalation of the situation in the north of Kosovo.

He made this known after last night’s talks with  Kosovo Prime Minister, Albin Kurti and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vuçiq.

“Today I spoke with the Kosovar Prime Minister Albin Kurti to request de-escalation in the north of Kosovo and the immediate return to the dialogue facilitated by the EU. The three-point plan of the EU is the way forward”, he wrote on “Twitter”.

Meanwhile, regarding the conversation with the Serbian president, the American Secretary said that , he spoke about the importance of the immediate reduction of tensions, while he welcomed the release of three Kosovar policemen by the Serbian authorities.

“We welcome the release of the Kosovo police and continue to strongly support the EU’s three-pronged plan , as the best way forward,” Blinken wrote.

The EU’s three-point plan foresees de-escalation of the situation, new elections and the return to dialogue.
