The draft law on the amendment of the law on pension schemes financed by the state has been approved. This enables 70,000 pensioners to recognize their contribution during the years of violent dismissal.
“Through it, we will address the issue of several years of inequality, of the non-recognition of the pension right in the contributory pension scheme, of a large number of pensioners who do not fulfill the criterion of 15 years of contribution to the former pension system”, Kurti emphasized during the gathering.
Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, said that this decision is something that has not been done for 20 years.
“As a result of the violent dismissal, many people, employers who contributed for 14 years and 11 months remained out of the pension scheme due to the 15 years of working experience condition. Through this law, we are ditching that discrimination, because it will enable them to supplement their rights from the period when they were forced to leave work until January 1, 1999. The amount of the pension will be counted depending on the years that have contributed to the pension trust”, Murati emphasized.
At the same time, the Minister for Communities and Return in the Government of Kosovo, Nenad Rashic, said that it is an important step to remove the institutional vacuum.
“As a warning, I know that many people can apply for this additional leveling, but I want you to have valid data because I think that the number of applicants will be greater than what you expect,” Rashic said.
